Is your router secure? Maybe not ..

A recent news item headed “Researcher will enable hackers to take over millions of home routers” just caught my eye, as it should yours. The article in question is here.
The story is that a security researcher, called Craig Heffner, claims to have a tool that will allow Internet hackers to compromise many (the article quotes “millions”) of the routers we all use at home and in the workplace. Being the good chap he is, Craig has stated that he will release his tool “into the wild” at a security conference next week.
So, I strongly suggest you urgently check to see if your router is on Craig’s list of routers, and if it is one of those that he easily compromised, get onto the manufacturer straight away to see what steps they intend to take to protect your privacy. Alternatively, swap to one of the routers on the list that he failed to hack.
