Using your “desktop” applications anywhere
Posted on 23. Aug, 2010 by Adrian Pearson in Guides, Sundry
I have recently been participating in a discussion thread about how to access the programs and files you need when working from two different locations – such as from home or the office.
My recommendation was to use a hosted desktop solution; one where everything is maintained in a professionally managed data centre. This raised questions about how it worked in practice.
So, for the benefit of anyone interested, here is a screen clip of the applications available on the server used by Pearson & Associates. Of course, these are the programs we wanted, pretty much any software can be hosted in this way. The panel above is what you see in Internet Explorer, after you have securely signed-in to the server.
If you would like advice on this or the details of potential suppliers please contact me.
